Dankner: I'm fine, I did nothing wrong

IDB chairman Nochi Dankner responded for the first time today to accusations of securities fraud.

IDB Holding Corp. Ltd. (TASE:IDBH) chairman Nochi Dankner, who has been questioned on suspicion of securities fraud, has for the first time responded to the accusation against him, Channel 2 reports. "I suggest that you shouldn't be too impressed by the things written in the press," Dankner said at the entrance to his home in Herzliya Pituah today. "A lot of it has no connection to reality."

"I'm fine," declared Dankner, who was on his way to the company's offices. "I'm going to work; I'm currently working on IDB's financial statements.

"I have faith in the Securities Authority, which is carrying out its role properly, and believe that it will quickly become clear that no wrong has been committed and that there was no blemish in my conduct."

Dankner sent a letter to IDB employees today, telling them, "At every one of the stages in the offering I kept within the law and observed all the existing rules in order to ensure that the offer was conducted properly. Everything I did was in accordance with that. I explained this at length and in detail to the Israel Securities Authority. The Authority is doing its job and investigating matters in depth. I am sure that my explanations and the material that I handed over and that will be gathered will prove in the clearest possible way that there was no legal flaw and that my conduct was unblemished."

Dankner closes his letter by saying, "I continue to work with determination to ensure that IDB will meet all its challenges. Together with you, the group's workers, I am certain that we shall succeed in this task."
