Sun: Teva pulls TASE up

Teva rose strongly on the day's biggest turnover, and Mellanox gained ground.

The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange (TASE) rose today. The Tel Aviv 25 Index rose 0.49% to 1,234.58 points, the Tel Aviv 100 Index rose 0.60% to 1,091.63 points, and the BlueTech 50 Index rose 0.43% to 333.12 points. Turnover was NIS 584.4 million.

The TASE rose today, despite a mixed session on European markets and on Wall Street on Friday.

Meitav reported today that mutual funds raised a net NIS 1 billion in the first week of December, and have raised a net NIS 20 billion so far this year, just NIS 1 billion shy of the record amount raised in 2009.

In the bond market, long-term Shahar unlinked government shekel bonds were unchanged, and long-term Galil CPI-linked government bonds ranged between losses of 0.1% and gains of 0.2%. The corporate bond benchmark index Tel-Bond 20 Index rose 0.13%.

In the foreign currency market, options pointed to a 0.06% drop in the shekel-dollar exchange rate, compared with Friday's representative rate, to NIS 3.833/$, and a 0.24% drop in the shekel-euro exchange rate to NIS 4.959/€.

In the stock market, Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NYSE: TEVA; TASE: TEVA) rose 2.7%, for the biggest gain among Tel Aviv 25 shares on the day's biggest turnover of NIS 46 million, ahead of the publication of its strategic plan later this week.

Mellanox Technologies Ltd. (Nasdaq:MLNX; TASE:MLNX) rose 2.5%, after a double-digit drop last week. Spacecom Satellite Communications Ltd. (TASE:SCC), on the Tel Aviv 100 Index, rose 2%, after announcing a $3.5 million deal for satellite communications services.

The Insurance Index rose 1.8%, led by a 2.8% gain by Migdal Insurance and Financial Holdings Ltd. (TASE: MGDL) and a 2.3% gain by Menorah Mivtachim Holdings Ltd. (TASE: MORA).

Israel Petrochemical Enterprises Ltd. (TASE:PTCH) rose 1.9%, after completing the sale of the controlling interest in Avgol Nonwoven Industries Ltd. (TASE:AVGL).

Nissan Medical Industries Ltd. (TASE: NISA) rose 9.6%, after announcing the distribution of a NIS 23.3 million dividend. Allium Medical Ltd. (TASE: ALMD) rose 4.3%, after announcing that a subsidiary obtained approval for its urine incontinence product.

Best Fuel Ltd. (TASE: BSFL) rose 37.8%, after the sale of its controlling interest to Noam Lanir, despite the large dilution that this will cause the shareholders.

Renault and Nissan importer Carasso Motors Ltd. (TASE: CRSO) rose 5.9% on a share buy-back plan.
