Unemployment rate dips in November

The unemployment rate fell to 7% in November from 7.3% in October.

Despite the slowing economy, the unemployment rate fell in November 2012, the Central Bureau of Statistics reported today. In the original figures, the unemployment rate fell to 7% in November from 7.3% in October, and the number of unemployed fell to 254,000 from 266,000.

In seasonally-adjusted figures, the unemployment rate fell to 6.7% in November from 6.9% in October, with the number of unemployed falling to 245,000 from 251,000.

In January 2012, the Central Bureau of Statistics changed its method for measuring unemployment, and since then it is advisable to review both data sets. In trend figures, the unemployment rate was unchanged in November at 6.8%.
