Ben Gurion Airport traffic up 1.5% in 2012

12.4 million passengers passed through the airport in 2012.

12.4 million passengers passed through Ben Gurion Airport in 2012, 1.5% more than in 2011, according to preliminary estimates by the Israel Airport Authority. The airport handled 89,700 take-offs and landings by international flights, 0.5% fewer than in the year before.

The most popular destinations in 2012 were the US, Germany, Italy, France, and Russia. 1.4 million passengers departed to or arrived from the US, the leading destination, 12% of total passenger traffic in 2012.

The Airports Authority listed service improvements made during the year, including the opening of a new 250-space long-term parking lot for Terminal 3, and the launch of parking app P for smartphones and tablets, which provides regular updates on long-term parking and the number of spaces available at the airport. The airport also launched a new format for smartphones and tablets for arrivals and departures.
