Yes to launch channel for dogs

Dog TV provides dogs left alone at home the comfort of sights and sounds that they enjoy.

It's no joke: DBS Satellite Services (1998) Ltd. (YES) will soon launch Dog TV, a designated television channel for dogs. The channel was launched in the US in February 2012 to provide dogs left alone at home the comfort of sights and sounds that they enjoy, says the company.

Yes will air Dog TV on January 15, at a cost of NIS 9.90 a month. The idea is to leave the television on when no one is at home, so that the family dog can watch it and not feel lonely or suffer from abandonment anxiety.

Dog TV airs programs 3-6 minutes long, with an emphasis on soothing content (through the use of classical music and the sounds of nature), stimulation (through animations and wake-up sounds), and exposure (programs to expose dogs to scary noises, such as vacuum cleaners so they will overcome their fears).

Dog TV claims that the content was developed on the basis of academic research which focused on dogs' perspectives and hearing, and on the effects of colors and music that they experience.

Dog TV says that the development of LCD, LED, and plasma thin television screens enables dogs to see a clearer image than provided by earlier televisions.
