Thu: Tel Aviv 25 up 1.1% on week

Mellanox rebounded strongly and energy exploration companies and the banks also gained ground, but mobile carriers Cellcom and Partner fell.

The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange (TASE) rose today. The Tel Aviv 25 Index rose 1.14% to 1,224.11 points, the Tel Aviv 100 Index rose 0.91% to 1,085.95 points, and the BlueTech 50 Index rose 0.64% to 318.53 points. Turnover was NIS 1.06 billion.

The TASE rose again today, in line with gains on European markets and at the opening on Wall Street. The Tel Aviv 25 Index rose 1.1% for the week, and is up 3.2% since January 1.

In the foreign currency market, the Bank of Israel set the shekel-dollar representative exchange rate at NIS 3.777/$, down 0.16% on yesterday's rate, and set the shekel-euro representative exchange rate at NIS 4.949/€, up 0.15%.

In the bond market, long-term Shahar unlinked shekel government bonds were unchanged and long term Galil CPI-linked government fell by up to 0.1%. The corporate bond benchmark Tel-Bond 20 Index fell 0.18%.

In the stock market, Mellanox Technologies Ltd. (Nasdaq:MLNX; TASE:MLNX) rebounded 6.9% today for the biggest gain among Tel Aviv 25 shares.

Bezeq Israeli Telecommunication Co. Ltd. (TASE: BEZQ) rose 1.6%, but mobile carriers Partner Communications Ltd. (Nasdaq: PTNR; TASE: PTNR) and Cellcom Israel Ltd. (NYSE:CEL; TASE:CEL) both fell 2.3% for the biggest losses among Tel Aviv 25 shares, after UBS said that it would be another challenging year for the sector. UBS reiterated that Bezeq is its stock pick, but cut it recommendation for Partner from "Buy" to "Neutral".

In a separate report, UBS raised its valuations for the Tamar and Leviathan reservoirs and raised its target prices for their Israeli partners. Avner Oil and Gas LP (TASE: AVNR.L) and Delek Drilling LP (TASE: DEDR.L) rose 1.5% and 1.8%, respectively, and their parent company Delek Group Ltd. (TASE: DLEKG) rose 1.8%. Their partner in Tamar, Isramco Ltd. (Nasdaq: ISRL; TASE: ISRA.L) rose 1.3%, and their partner in Leviathan, Ratio Oil Exploration (1992) LP (TASE:RATI.L), which is listed on the Tel Aviv 100 Index, rose 1.4%.

Bank Hapoalim (TASE: POLI) rose 2.3% on the day's biggest turnover of NIS 59 million, Bank Leumi (TASE: LUMI) rose 1.5%, and Israel Discount Bank (TASE: DSCT) rose 3.3%.

On the Tel Aviv 100 Index, Africa-Israel Investments Ltd. (TASE:AFIL) rose 4.9%, but its bonds ranged from losses of 5.7% to gains of 2.7%, after announcing a NIS 700 million bond buyback.

Brainsway Ltd. (TASE:BRIN) rose another 8.4% after yesterday's 15.9% jump.
