Gasoline price to rise NIS 0.30 per liter Thursday night

The price of self-service 95 octane gasoline will rise from NIS 7.52 per liter to NIS 7.80 per liter.

The price of gasoline will rise by NIS 0.30 per liter at midnight Thursday. The price of self-service 95 octane gasoline will rise from NIS 7.52 per liter to over NIS 7.80 per liter.

The pending price hike follows a sharp rise in the price of Brent crude over the past month, after several months of falling prices from the peak of NIS 8.25 per liter reached in September 2012. The fall in global oil prices and the drop in the shekel-euro exchange rate are the reasons for the fall in the retail price of gasoline.

The price of gasoline is based on the average quotes of CIF La Vera trade prices for fuels in the Mediterranean basin in the last five business days of the month, which are then converted from dollars into shekels. On the basis of this formula, as of yesterday, the price of gasoline will rise by NIS 0.23 per liter at the end of January.
