Bar Ilan University president resigns

Prof. Moshe Kaveh today tendered his resignation, ten weeks after a scathing report by the State Comptroller.

Bar Ilan University president Prof. Moshe Kaveh today tendered his resignation, ten weeks after a scathing report by the State Comptroller into the failed conduct by university executives. Kaveh will leave his post in eight months, and the university has begun looking for his successor.

Bar Ilan University director general Haim Glick announced his resignation when the State Comptroller's report was published.

The State Comptroller found that although Bar Ilan University had a committee for setting executive pay, headed by outgoing Minister of Justice Yaakov Ne'eman, in practice, Kaveh set salaries, which were rubber stamped by the committee, and any committee decisions that Kaveh did not like were never implemented, or amended retroactively in line with his demands. The State Comptroller also found that Kaveh illegally intervened in the election process for another term as university president.
