Steinitz: I hope US sequester won't hurt us

The finance minister told the cabinet today, "The international environment is very difficult, which is why we must act with responsibility and daring."

"We are very worried about the financial difficulties in the US, and I hope they won't hurt us," said Minister of Finance Yuval Steinitz at today's cabinet meeting.

"It's important to remember that Israel was the only country in the world which succeeded in the past three years to swim against the tide and achieve growth and reduce unemployment."

Steinitz added, "The international environment is very difficult, which is why we must act with responsibility and daring and to work hard to protect Israel's economy and its people. It is precisely because of these difficulties that we need a strong and stable government."
