Wed: Delek Group fails to depress market

The Leviathan partners led by Delek Group and its units Delek Drilling and Avner fell sharply.

The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange (TASE) rose today. The Tel Aviv 25 Index rose 0.16% to 1,228.23 points, the Tel Aviv 100 Index rose 0.19% to 1,098.72 points, while the BlueTech 50 Index fell 0.03% to 313.81 points. Turnover was NIS 1.002 billion.

The TASE rose today, in line with gains European markets and at the opening on Wall Street.

In the foreign currency market, the Bank of Israel set the shekel-dollar representative exchange rate at NIS 3.726/$, down 0.162% on yesterday's rate, and set the shekel-euro representative exchange rate at NIS 4.86/€, down 0.07%

In the bond market, both long-term Shahar unlinked shekel government bonds were unchanged and long term Galil CPI-linked government rose by up to 0.2%. The corporate bond benchmark Tel-Bond 20 Index rose 0.24%

In the stock market, the rise in the Tel Aviv 25 was led by EZchip Semiconductor Ltd. (Nasdaq: EZCH; TASE:EZCH) and Cellcom Israel Ltd. (NYSE:CEL; TASE:CEL), which both rose 2.3%.

However, it was a bad day for energy exploration companies with Delek Group Ltd. (TASE: DLEKG) group units Avner Oil and Gas LP (TASE: AVNR.L) and Delek Drilling Limited Partnership (TASE: DEDR.L) losing 3.8% and 4.3% respectively. Parent company Delek Group was down 3.8%, while Ratio Oil Exploration (1992) LP (TASE:RATI.L) fell 5%. The Gas and Oil Index fell 2%. Israel Land Development Company Energy Ltd. (TASE: IE) fell 10.4%, and Modiin Energy LP (TASE:MDIN.L) fell 10.2%.

The Insurance Index rose 1.2% with The Phoenix Holdings Ltd. (TASE: PHOE1;PHOE5) rising 3.4%.

Clal Industries and Investments Ltd. (TASE: CII) fell 3.9% on the day's largest turnover of NIS 81 million after IDB Holding Corp. Ltd. (TASE:IDBH) reported it was selling its remaining 10.6% stake in the company for NIS 223 million.
