Anat Kam sues "Haaretz" NIS 2.6m for negligence
Kam claims that the newspaper disclosed her as the source of secret IDF material, exposing her to criminal proceedings.
Kam filed the lawsuit with the Tel Aviv District Court. She is demanding NIS 2.6 million in compensation, including NIS 420,000 in lawyers' fees over the past few years.
Kam was convicted in a plea bargain for espionage (gathering and keeping secret material) during her IDF service, when she served in the office of OC Center Major General Yair Naveh in 2005-07. She collected more than 2,000 highly classified documents and presentations, and close to her discharge from the army, copied them onto two CDs for the purpose of disclosing them to the public. She sent the material to Blau, who used them as the basis for a series of investigative reports published by "Haaretz".
Kam began serving her sentence at the Neve Tirzah women's prison in November 2011.
