Wed: New Leviathan estimate boosts partners

The market fell today, with Teva the biggest decliner, but there were strong rises for the partners in the Leviathan gas field.

The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange (TASE) fell today. The Tel Aviv 25 Index fell 0.10% to 1,204.99 points, the Tel Aviv 100 Index fell 0.10% to 1,081.84 points, but the BlueTech 50 Index edged up 0.03% to 301.31 points. Turnover was NIS 926.3 million.

A late plunge sent the leading TASE indices back below their starting lines. European markets were mixed today, as is the opening on Wall Street.

In the foreign currency market, the Bank of Israel set the shekel-dollar representative exchange rate at NIS 3.587/$, down 0.20% on yesterday's rate, and set the shekel-euro exchange rate at NIS 4.731/€, up 0.76%.

In the bond market, long-term Shahar unlinked shekel government bonds rose by up to 0.1% and long term Galil CPI-linked government bonds rose by up to 0.3%. The corporate bond benchmark Tel-Bond 20 Index rose 0.44%.

In the stock market, Leviathan partners Avner Oil and Gas LP (TASE: AVNR.L) and Delek Drilling LP (TASE: DEDR.L) rose 4.2% and 3.8%, respectively, for the biggest gains among Tel Aviv 25 shares, in heavy trading after an upward revision of the gas and condensate estimates in the field was announced. Their parent company, Delek Group Ltd. (TASE: DLEKG), rose 1.8%, and their partner, Ratio Oil Exploration (1992) LP (TASE:RATI.L), which is traded on the Tel Aviv 100 Index, rose 8.3%. The Oil and Gas Index rose 3.7%.

Cellcom Israel Ltd. (NYSE:CEL; TASE:CEL) rose another 1.5% today. The Banking Index fell 0.2%, with Bank Hapoalim (TASE: POLI) and Bank Leumi (TASE: LUMI) down 0.8% and 0.2%, respectively.

Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NYSE: TEVA; TASE: TEVA) fell 2.2% for the biggest loss among Tel Aviv shares, and Israel Chemicals Ltd. (TASE: ICL) fell 1% on the day's biggest turnover of NIS 49 million.

Elsewhere in the market, Habas HZ Investments Ltd. (TASE: HABS) rose 25.9%, after announcing talks for financing investment in its Dutch REIT unit Nieuwe Steen Investments NV (NSI) (AEX:NISTI).

IDB Holding Corp. Ltd. (TASE:IDBH) rose 1.5%, and its subsidiary IDB Development Corporation's bonds rose by up to 5.6%. IDB unit Discount Investment Corporation (TASE: DISI) rose 6.5%.
