Rami Levy selling Israel's cheapest Galaxy S4

The chain is selling the Samsung smartphone for NIS 3,240, while Home Cellular is asking NIS 3,250 and Best Mobile NIS 3,275.

Rami Levy Chain Stores Hashikma Marketing 2006 Ltd. (TASE:RMLI) yesterday afternoon began selling Samsung Galaxy S4 smartphones, which it imports independently, at NIS 3,240 each, the cheapest price in the Israeli market. On Monday, Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. (KSX: 5930; LSE: SMSN) launched Israeli Galaxy S4 sales at the official price of NIS 3,600, while mobile carriers Cellcom Israel Ltd. (NYSE:CEL; TASE:CEL) and Partner Communications Ltd. (Nasdaq: PTNR; TASE: PTNR) are asking NIS 3,700. Retailers Best Mobile and Home Cellular, which are importing the smartphones independently, are asking less.

Although Rami Levy is selling the Galaxy S4 at a low price, customers will only receive them after ten days, while other retailers provide it on the spot. Rami Levy does not yet have the smartphone in stock, and expects delivery early next week.

Home Cellular is asking NIS 3,250 for the Galaxy S4 and Best Mobile is asking NIS 3,275, not a big difference compared with Rami Levy's price.

In addition, a line on Rami Levy's sale's site is liable to disturb potential customers. The supermarket is offering the Galaxy S4 I9505 model, claiming that it has been upgraded, whereas in fact the smartphone comes with a quad core processor and speed of 1.9 gigahertz, while the Galaxy S4 I9500 model has a quad core processor and speed of 1.6 gigahertz and a second quad core processor and speed of 1.2 gigahertz, for a total of eight cores, making it the better model.

Rami Levy said that there were only 50 Galaxy S4 I9505 smartphones, and that customers can choose whichever model they want.
