Pfizer sues Unipharm for violating Viagra patent
Pfizer today filed a NIS 10 million lawsuit with the Tel Aviv District Court against Unipharm for producing and selling imitation Viagra.
Pfizer said that it was astonished to discover that Uniform failed to resist the temptation of making easy profits by producing an imitation Viagra preparation, in violation of its patent on the drug. It is asking the court for an injunction banning Unipharm from selling its preparation, and to order Unipharm to pay NIS 10 million in compensation.
Pfizer added that even before Unipharm began marketing its imitation Viagra, Unipharm proposed a financial settlement to Pfizer for not launching its product. Pfizer rejected the extortion attempt, telling Unipharm that it would enforce its rights.
