easyJet to launch Tel Aviv-Rome flights

The low-cost air carrier will operate two weekly flights on Tuesdays and Saturdays between Tel Aviv and Rome from September 24, 2013.

Low cost air carrier easyJet plc (LSE: EZJ) announced today that it will begin operating flights from Tel Aviv to Rome, starting September. easyJet will operate two weekly flights on Tuesdays and Saturdays between Ben Gurion International Airport and Fiumicino airport in the Italian capital from September 24, 2013.

Fares start from €50.49 including taxes on the Tel Aviv-Rome route and €86.98 between Rome and Tel Aviv.

easyJet entered the Israeli market in November 2009, when the airline introduced its first flights between London’s Luton airport and Tel Aviv. Since then easyJet has increased the frequency of flights to London to 11 times weekly as of October 2013, and launched three other routes from Tel Aviv to Geneva and Basel in Switzerland (4 times a week each), and Manchester (twice a week).

easyJet UK commercial manager Hugh Aitken said, "easyJet is a long term committed partner of the Israeli economy and tourism industry. As part of this great partnership, we are delighted to make Europe always more accessible to Israeli business and leisure passengers with a fifth direct flight to Rome. We are confident that this new route will become as popular as the other flights we successfully operate to/from Israel and to bring additional visitors."
