Stanley Fischer released from hospital

The outgoing Governor of the Bank of Israel was treated for dehydration after feeling unwell at home and returns to work tomorrow.

Outgoing Governor of the Bank of Israel Prof. Stanley Fischer has been released from Sheba Medical Center at Tel Hashomer near Tel Aviv. He was rushed to hospital by ambulance from his home last night after feeling unwell and treated for dehydration and exhaustion.

Fischer was released around midday today after staying overnight for observation. He was given an infusion and underwent tests. Fischer thanked the hospital staff for their devoted and professional treatment and thanked the public for their interest in his welfare. He will return to work tomorrow,

Fischer, 69, steps down as Governor of the Bank of Israel on Sunday after eight years in the post. He will be succeeded by Prof. Jacob Frenkel.
