Yahoo Sports reports that NBA sources are saying that free agent Omri Casspi, the first Israeli player ever to play in the NBA, has agreed to a $2 million two-year deal with the Houston Rockets. The deal will include a team option in 2014-15.

Casspi, 25, played an increasingly diminished role with the Cleveland Cavaliers the past two seasons before being released last week. The Rockets had long been interested in signing Casspi who averaged a career-best 10.3 points in his rookie season with Sacramento Kings in 2009-10.

Last week, ESPN reported that point guard Gal Mekel, who led Maccabi Haifa to the Israel league title in June, has agreed to terms with the Dallas Mavericks. He will reportedly earn a minimum gross salary of $490,000 per season for three years. Under NBA rules, a contract can only be signed after July 10.
