Israel Electric Corporation (IEC) (TASE: ELEC.B22) will invest NIS 6 million in a PR campaign to mark the operation of the fourth chimney at the Orot Rabin Power Station in Hadera. The new chimney will have scrubbers to remove pollutants. The new chimney will begin operating in July 2014, but IEC is already preparing its PR campaign.
IEC's main worry is the response of local residents if the chimney emits water vapor, or plume. Plumes are a sign that all is well, but a similar incident at a chimney at the Rothenberg Power Station in Ashkelon in 2001 created a mistaken impression that resulted in complaints by local residents.
