Tue: Israel Chemicals sends TASE tumbling

Israel Chemicals and parent company Israel Corp. went into a tailspin after Russian producer Uralkali left the potash cartel.

The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange (TASE) fell today. The Tel Aviv 25 Index fell 1.64% to 1,203.46 points, the Tel Aviv 100 Index fell 1.30% to 1,093.16 points, and the BlueTech 50 Index fell 0.14% to 310.91 points. Turnover was NIS 2.15 billion.

The TASE fell today, despite gains on European markets and at the opening on Wall Street.

In the foreign currency market, the Bank of Israel set the shekel-dollar representative exchange rate at NIS 3.569/$, down 0.70% on yesterday's rate, and set the shekel-euro representative exchange rate at NIS 4.738/€, down 0.72%, the day after the Monetary Committee kept the interest rate for August unchanged at 1.25%.

In the bond market, long-term Shahar unlinked shekel government bonds and long term Galil CPI-linked government rose. The corporate bond benchmark Tel-Bond 20 Index rose 0.07%.

In the stock market, Israel Chemicals Ltd. (TASE: ICL) fell 17.7%, on the day's biggest turnover of NIS 539.6 million, and parent company Israel Corporation (TASE: ILCO) fell 20.2%, for the biggest loss among Tel Aviv 25 shares, after Russian potash producer Uralkali JSC (LSE: URKA) broke up the potash cartel, heralding a plunge in prices.

Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NYSE: TEVA; TASE: TEVA) fell 2.1%, despite winning an appeal in the UK for its Copaxone patents, and Perrigo Company (NYSE:PRGO; TASE:PRGO) fell another 1.1%, a day after announcing the acquisition of Ireland's Elan Corporation (NYSE; LSE; Dublin: ELN).

Tamar gas field partners bucked the market. Isramco Ltd. (Nasdaq: ISRL; TASE: ISRA.L) rose 3.2% for the biggest gain among Tel Aviv 25 shares, while Delek Group Ltd. (TASE: DLEKG) rose 1.3% and its exploration units Avner Oil and Gas LP (TASE: AVNR.L) and Delek Drilling LP (TASE: DEDR.L) rose 1.9% and 1.8%, respectively.

Cellcom Israel Ltd. (NYSE:CEL; TASE:CEL) rose 0.7%, after denying media reports that it was up for sale by IDB Holding Corp. Ltd. (TASE:IDBH). IDB rose 12.1% on reports that a deal to sell 30% of Clal Insurance Enterprises Holdings Ltd. (TASE: CLIS) was close. Clal Insurance rose 1.8%.

Elsewhere in the market, AudioCodes Ltd. (Nasdaq: AUDC; TASE: AUDC) rose 5.7% after publishing its financials and raising its full-year guidance.
