Clal Insurance's Thai buyer has Hong Kong partner

Li Haifeng was reportedly in Israel last week and apparently met with Finance Minister Yair Lapid.

Sources inform ''Globes'' that Thailand's CP Group, controlled by Dhanin Chaearavanont, the potential buyer of Clal Insurance Enterprises Holdings Ltd. (TASE: CLIS), has a Hong Kong business partner, Li Haifeng. Li was reportedly in Israel last week and apparently met Minister of Finance Yair Lapid.

Lapid's bureau declined to comment on the report.

Market sources says that CP Group and Li are the main partners in the consortium which will reportedly reach a deal with Dankner within days to acquire the 30% controlling interest in Clal Insurance from IDB Holding Corp. Ltd. (TASE:IDBH). The sources added that the deal's investment banker is Batya Tocatly., a scion of the family which once owned Arie Insurance Company.
