ClickSoftware issues weak Q3 guidance

The company predicts a non-GAAP net loss of $3.5 million on $23.2 million revenue.

ClickSoftware Technologies Ltd. (Nasdaq: CKSW) today published a weak guidance for the third quarter of 2013. The automated workforce management and optimization solutions developer predicts a non-GAAP net loss of $3.5 million ($0.10 per share) on $23.2 million revenue, well below the analysts' consensus of $0.03 earnings per share on $28.2 million revenue.

Today's announcement follows the weak guidance issued for the second quarter in July, when the company forecast a non-GAAP net loss of $2.1-2.5 million ($0.06-0.08 per share on $24.5 million revenue, similar to the first quarter. The guidance materialized: the company posted a non-GAAP net loss of $2.3 million ($0.07 per share) on $24.7 million revenue for the second quarter.

ClickSoftware CEO Dr. Moshe BenBassat says that, while the company is seeing greater demand for its cloud optimization solutions, "In the short-term, our quarterly results have been impacted due to lower up-front license fees and a smaller initial deployment size, a natural occurrence when shifting to the cloud."
