Amazon.com to open Israeli cloud services center

The e-commerce company's Tel Aviv office will provide Amazon Web Services to Israeli customers.

Amazon.com Inc. (NYSE: AMZN) today announced that will open an office in Tel Aviv to support the growth of its cloud services through Amazon Web Services and its rapidly growing customer base in Israel. The office will open in early 2014, and will support enterprises of every size, from start-ups to Israel's biggest companies.

The new office will have customer service managers, solutions engineers, technical support manager, a support team, and other positions to support Israeli customers through direct contact with Amazon Web Services. Israeli customers will be among the first customers in the EMEA to enjoy Amazon Web Services, which was launched in 2006. They will use Amazon Web Services to run services from development and testing environments through big data analysis, web, mobile and social applications to enterprise applications and mission-critical workloads.

"Israeli companies use Amazon Web Services to foster innovation, shorten time to market, and expand their global businesses," says Amazon Web Services EMEA head Steve Migdley. "The decision to open an Amazon Web Services office in Israel demonstrates the rapidly growing customer base, the wide range of skills, and our investment to support the adoption of cloud services across the EMEA. We expect to work with more Israeli companies to help them lower their technology resources investments while maintaining high levels of reliability and security."
