IEC to launch cyber defense training facility

The Cyber Gym, to be launched Wednesday, is a unique facility to train cyber fighters to practice cyber defense for strategic national energy and infrastructure companies.

Israel Electric Corporation (IEC) (TASE: ELEC.B22) will inaugurate its Cyber Gym training arena for defense against cyber attacks on Wednesday. The Cyber Gym, run by director general Ofir Hason, is a unique facility to train cyber fighters to practice cyber defense for strategic national energy and infrastructure companies, including railways, airports, roads, power plants, and water companies.

The Cyber Gym is not an ordinary simulator, but prepares the control team to experience and respond in real time to implications of cyber attacks on sensitive infrastructure facilities. In order to practice a real event, it employs the best Israeli and foreign hackers.

The Cyber Gym has three teams, each with its own color: the attack arena - the Red Team (hackers); the defense arena - the Blue Team; and the control arena - the White Team for crisis management. The teams will practice various attack scenarios that simulate real-time events.

The Cyber Gym has state-of-the-art systems and world-class technological, planning, and control systems which can tailor a training arena suitable to the needs and characteristics of the organization. It aims to train cyberspace defenders in the teamwork, common language, understanding of the attacker's mind, and training and practice needed when a cyber threat materializes.
