PM's household expenses reach NIS 3.2m

2012 expenses for Benjamin Netanyahu's official Jerusalem residence and private Caesarea home exceeded the NIS 2.2 million approved.

Total household expenditure for the Prime Minister's residences in Jerusalem and Caesarea reached NIS 3.2 million in 2012. This figure comprised NIS 2.9 million for the official Prime Minister's residence in Jerusalem and NIS 312,000 for his private home in Caesarea. The taxpayer must foot this bill even though annual expenditure of only NIS 2.2 million had been approved for the Prime Minister's homes.

At the Prime Minister's home in Caesarea NIS 20,000 was spent on gardening in 2012 and a further NIS 26,000 on electricity. The annual water bill totaled NIS 80,000 including more than NIS 5,500 in taxes for excess use.

Expenditure included NIS 6,000 on scented candles and a further NIS 10,000 on flower arrangements. While the Prime Minister uses the official residence in Jerusalem for work meetings and hosting dignitaries and events, the Caesarea home is for his private use.

In his Caesarea home more than NIS 10,000 was spent on changing blinds, NIS 120,000 on maintenance and cleaning. Telephone bills amounted to more than NIS 26,000 and NIS 7,600 was spent on a new fridge.
