Stratasys sees growing demand for dentistry 3D printer

Stratasys says that its system allows dental labs to efficiently produce stone models.

3D printer maker Stratasys Inc. (Nasdaq: SSYS) is seeing growing demand for its Objet30 OrthoDesk 3D printer, launched earlier this year. The printer is an affordable, simple-to-use desktop system which is designed to enable a cost-effective entry point to the many benefits of digital dentistry.

Stratasys says that its system allows dental labs to efficiently produce stone models, orthodontic appliances, delivery and positioning trays, retainers and surgical guides, which were previously only accessible by large labs because of the cost of 3D printers. It says that the system opens up a new range of possibilities for smaller dental labs, including the ability to significantly shorten delivery times, increase production capacity, and eliminate bulky model storage, which may contribute to the expansion of digital dentistry.

“We are witnessing a growing demand for our new Objet30 OrthoDesk 3D Printer,” said Stratasys Global Dental director Avi Cohen. “As dental labs constantly explore new ways to grow their business and increase productivity, they are looking to Stratasys’ growing portfolio of customized 3D printers and unique dental materials. These solution offerings provide highly accurate and flexible 3D printing technology to smaller labs and clinics who want to benefit from the future of dentistry, today."
