For the first time, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has responded about his bank account in the tax haven of Jersey, which "Globes" revealed. At a joint press conference with Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper in Jerusalem this morning, Netanyahu was asked by “IDF Radio" (Galei Zahal) correspondent Eliel Shachar why he felt the need to deposit his money in a tax haven and whether it was proper.
Netanyahu did not mention the ethical issues raised by the affair, saying laconically, "Everything was legal and reported to the authorities. I have nothing more to say."
In the revelation about the Jersey bank account, "Globes" noted that there was no legal problem about the bank account in the tax haven, and that the only question was whether it was proper.
