Wed: Copaxone boosts Teva but not TASE

Teva rose strongly on FDA approval for longer-lasting Copaxone, but Israel Chemicals and Israel Corp. lost ground.

The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange (TASE) fell today. The Tel Aviv 25 Index fell 0.50% to 1,307.89 points, the Tel Aviv 100 Index fell 0.49% to 1,203.55 points, and the BlueTech 50 Index fell 0.74% to 344.45 points. Turnover was NIS 1.69 billion.

The TASE fell today, despite a strong start, in line with losses on European markets and at the opening on Wall Street.

In the foreign currency market, the Bank of Israel set the shekel-dollar representative exchange rate at NIS 3.49/$, down 0.11% on yesterday's rate, and set the shekel-euro representative exchange rate at NIS 4.759/€, down 0.15%.

In the bond market, long-term Shahar unlinked shekel government bonds and long term Galil CPI-linked government rose. The corporate bond benchmark Tel-Bond 20 Index edged up 0.01%.

In the stock market, Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NYSE: TEVA; TASE: TEVA) rose 1.7%, for the biggest gain among Tel Aviv 25 shares and on the day's biggest turnover of NIS 189.8 million, after the FDA approved longer-lasting Copaxone.

Israel Chemicals Ltd. (TASE: ICL) fell 1.1% and parent company Israel Corporation (TASE: ILCO) fell 3% for the biggest loss among Tel Aviv 25 shares.

Bank Leumi (TASE: LUMI) and Bank Hapoalim (TASE: POLI) corrected upwards 1.5% and 0.5%, respectively, but Israel Discount Bank (TASE: DSCT) fell another 1.5%, after publishing a profit warning.

On the Tel Aviv 100 Index, Tower Semiconductor Ltd. (Nasdaq: TSEM; TASE: TSEM) rose 6.4%, after announcing a US Air Force deal, and Fox-Wizel Ltd. (TASE: FOX) corrected upwards 0.5%, a day after Lev Leviev sold a third of his holding in the company. Mid-cap AudioCodes Ltd. (Nasdaq: AUDC; TASE: AUDC) rose 3,6%, after publishing good financials.
