"Jane’s": Serbia Urgently Seeking Military Equipment in Israel
The Ministry of Defense says Israel is complying fully with the embargo imposed by the UN on Serbia.
Israel received an urgent request from Serbia for a shipment of various military items. This was reported by the British army and defense magazine "Jane’s", in its most recent edition, quoting the "Foreign Report" journal which is based on Israeli sources.
The report says the Serbian government approached Israel through a senior Israeli diplomat, and submitted an urgent procurement list. The list included military equipment, medicines, and credit. Israel’s response was not published.
"Jane’s" noted that defense ties between Israel and President Milosevic’s regime started in 1992, with a visit to Belgrade by a Ministry of Defense delegation. The delegation signed a deal for the supply of large shells to the Serbian army.
