Olmert Charged With Fraud, Bookkeeping and Tax Offences in Likud Contributions Affair

Jerusalem Mayor MK Ehud Olmert was today (Thursday) charged at the Tel-Aviv District Court with obtaining by fraud under aggravated circumstances for the Likud faction, during the 1988 Knesset elections campaign, and with receiving from the State NIS 2,148,000 in financing moneys, by means of deceiving the State Comptroller through false entries made in the Likud’s accounting records.

Olmert is also charged with offences of falsifying corporate documents, preparing, maintaining and permitting another to prepare and maintain false books of account, use of fraud, stealth and cunning and the making of a false declaration.

The prosecution is summoning more than 100 witnesses, including Shmuel Dankner, Moshe Schnitzer, Yaakov Shachar, Gideon Patt, Avraham Sharir, Moshe Atzmon, Yonah Peled and Mordechai Yahel.
