Italy: More scientific-technological cooperation with Israel

Italy's Ambassador to Israel Giulio Terzi: After assuming the presidency of the European Union on July 1, Italy will further demonstrate its interest in scientific cooperation with Israel.

“42% of Israel’s trade is with European countries. Israel participated in 612 programs under the Fifth Framework Programme of the European Community for Research, Technological Development and Demonstration Activities (1998 - 2002), half of which also involved Italian companies,” Italian Ambassador to Israel Giulio Terzi said at the opening of discussions by the Italian-Israeli Forum on Computer Science in the Tel Aviv Hilton Hotel.

Terzi was speaking in the framework of an agreement between Israel and Italy for industrial cooperation, and scientific and technological research.

Terzi asserted that after receiving the presidency of the European Commission on July 1, Italy would further demonstrate its interest in scientific cooperation with Israel.

Also participating in the forum is a delegation of science and technology experts from Trento, headed by Istituto Trentino di Cultura - Centro per la ricerca scientifica e tecnologica (Center for Scientific and Technological Research) (ITC-IRST) Prof. Oliviero Stock and senior representatives of Italian academic institutions and research firms.
