Court petitions by e-mail in 2004

Judge Dan Arbel: The e-mail will open an electronic file without the petitioned needing to appear in court.

The public will be able to file court petitions by e-mail next year, courts manager Judge Dan Arbel told the Knesset Finance Committee today.

Judge Arbel said the e-mail would open an electronic file. The petitioner will not have to go to the courthouse to file the petition, but will be able to do it from home. He added that NIS 50 million had been allocated for the sophisticated process.

Judge Arbel nevertheless complained that the Ministry of Finance was delaying the transfer of budgets to the Ministry of Justice, which was worsening the condition of courthouses in need of repairs.
