Israel Shipyards building 3 patrol boats to protect Athens Olympics

Israel Shipyards: The Greek project is our largest project ever undertaken.

Israel Shipyards to displayed the first of three patrol boats it is building to protect the Olympic Games in Athens next summer.

The first patrol boat will be delivered to Greece this week, the second in February, and the third in April. Two of the patrol boat are being built in Israel and the third in Greece under the supervision of Israel Shipyards. The deal is worth $100 million altogether.

Israel Shipyards said it had hired over 100 workers to meet the project deadline. Israel Shipyards beat some of the world's leading shipyards for the project, after demonstrating the missile frigates it had built for the Israel Navy.

Israel Shipyards says the Greek project is the largest it has ever undertaken. The patrol boats will improve the Greek coast guard's ability to deal with terrorist threats from the sea.

The patrol boats are being built using technologies and structures similar to Israel's missile frigates.
