Cellcom sets up content division
Cellcom has signed an agreement with a company managed by Elon Shalev, Modi Frydman, and Kobi Marenko.
The external company was founded by Elon Shalev, a former editor of Hebrew daily “Yediot Ahronot”; Modi Frydman, founder and CEO of the Channel 2 news company; and Channel 2 news editor and reporter Kobi Marenko, who is also the former CFO of Channel 10 franchise holder Israel 10.
The company, which will work exclusively for Cellcom in the wireless field, will contract with producers of content to create unique content for wireless telecommunications. Shalev, Frydman, and Marenko will work for Cellcom, but will not have offices at Cellcom headquarters in Herzliya; they will work from their company’s offices.
The venture is designed to create more advanced and suitable content for wireless consumers, taking advantage of anticipated technological advancements in wireless networks and devices.
Cellcom president and CEO Dr. Yitzhak Peterburg said, “This is a very significant development, not only for Cellcom, but for the entire Israeli media market. Leading Israeli media figures have chosen to join Cellcom, and have taken on the challenge of making wireless devices even more important.”
