Ukraine's Kyivstar picks ECI solution for mobile communication

The network will span more than 5,000 kilometers.

ECI Telecom (Nasdaq:ECIL) today announced that Kyivstar, one of the largest mobile operators in the Ukraine, has selected its XDM technology to build its SDH network throughout the Ukrainian region.

Installation of the network, which has already begun, will span more than 5,000 kilometers, and is being deployed in cooperation with Priocom, one of the largest integrators in the Ukraine.

No value was disclosed.

ECI Telecom has been responsible for the design and implementation of the network, in addition to the training of the network engineers. Priocom took part in the network design and delivery, and the day-to-day management of the network is achieved in coordination with both companies.

ECI Telecom's Russia and former Soviet Union business unit Irena Lisak said, "Our XDM technology is perfectly suited to meet Kyivstar's stringent requirements and we look forward to getting their network up and running quickly." Kyivstar technical director Kjell Nordbo noted that ECI had supplied a scalable technology that could provide affordable mobile communications.
