Germany's Dertour resumes Israel activity

Dertour brought 4,000 German tourists to Israel in 2000.

Germany's third largest tourism wholesaler, Dertour, will resume marketing Israel, after a four-and-a-half year hiatus, caused by the intifada. Dertour will add Israel to its catalogue in October, and will sell tour packages at an international tourism fair in Europe next month. Dertour's catalogues are directed at audiences interested in history and culture.

Dertour has an estimated turnover of €874 million. More than 70 million German tourists visit other countries each year. Dertour brought 4,000 German tourists to Israel in 2000.

Central Bureau of Statistics and Ministry of Tourism information and statistics department figures indicate that 75,895 Germans visited Israel in 2004, 55% more than in 2003. 200,000 Germans visited Israel in 2000.
