Israel, Jordan to market tourism packages again

This is the first joint tourism effort in four and a half years.

For the first time in four and a half years, Israel and Jordan will jointly market tourism packages for both countries, the managers of Israel and Jordan's tourism bureaus in the UK have decided.

Ministry of Tourism director Israel Government Tourist Office (London) Oren Drori, who is responsible for northern Europe, said he initiated the meeting with the Jordanian official in the UK for promoting tourism. He and Drori decided to hold a series of joint seminars for religious leaders and travel agents during the coming summer. Tourism wholesalers will market joint regional packages at the seminars.

Drori and his Jordanian counterpart also discussed plans for jointly hosting tourist trade press and advertising teams. Drori said joint regional marketing of tourist packages would boost tourism to the area.

Minister of Tourism Avraham Hirchson is currently attending the NRB 2005 National Religious Broadcasters convention in California. He welcomed the joint Israel-Jordan initiative, adding that he would promote regional tourism and joint tourist packages for Israel, Jordan and Egypt. He emphasized that joint packages by countries in the region would boost tourism to the Holy Land.
