CDI Systems of Jerusalem, a developer of online publishing solutions, has announced the launch of what it says is the world's largest online Jewish library.

The library, called Otzar Ha-Hochma (Treasury of Wisdom), is based on CDI's NetIS online publishing platform. The original version was developed and published by Or Ha-Hochma on a USB hard disk.

Otzar Ha-Hochma contains over 16,000 Jewish books, and roughly four million pages. The titles include thousands of extremely rare books that have not been published for hundreds of years and are now accessible to everyone.

NetIS provides users with novel technological capabilities, applied to rare and valuable content.

According to CDI, thanks to NetIS, this valuable resource can be placed on the Web without fear that the content will be stolen. The information is made available using various access models, based on predefined DRM (Digital Rights Management) profiles.

Licensing options range from annual full-privilege subscriptions to limited usage privileges, such as the right to view content only, without the ability to print, save, or select for copy and paste.

Otzar Ha-Hochma users can search and browse the catalog of the repository, preview books, and purchase the rights to view or print the books, using NetIS advanced DRM technology and seamless e-commerce integration.

Universities, libraries, colleges, and yeshivot can purchase site licenses, while individual scholars around the world can also purchase portions from this vast database using flexible price models.

The Otzar Ha-Hochma library contains books from every branch of Jewish literature and Jewish history. CDI says it is more comprehensive than anything ever made available before. Among the volumes are early editions of well-known books; reproductions of manuscripts and first editions; pamphlets; periodicals; Torah collections published in single editions, and much more. An extensive and detailed subject catalog enables quick and easy access to the repository.

CDI Systems was founded in 1992. It is a privately owned software house, headquartered in Israel. Its online publishing solutions have been deployed throughout the world as part of interactive legal productions on CD-ROM, dynamic professional databases (on-line and handheld), newspapers, phone directories, electoral registries and encyclopedias.

CDI Systems is the leading e-publisher of legal content in Israel, and is a principal technology provider to the legal market in Germany, with a multitude of applications and customers, and including high profile applications such as the Dun and Bradstreet - Market analyzer, IDC Israel - Pay per view site, Legal Portal joint venture with Bezek (Israel telecommunication company) and Globes.
