Ben Gurion Airport becomes WiFi hotspot

Golden Lines International Communication Services is providing wireless Internet connectivity.

From now on, it will be possible to surf the Internet from the new Terminal 3 at Ben Gurion International Airport. The Israel Airports Authority announced yesterday that as of this month, it will provide wireless Internet service free of charge to personal computer and palm computer users.

Golden Lines International Communication Services is providing Internet connectivity. Bynet Data Communications of the Rad-Bynet group provided a portion of the communications equipment, and was responsible for planning the network.

Wireless Internet service will be available in all public spaces throughout the terminal, up to but not including the jetways for boarding the aircraft. Special stands will be set up all through the terminal that will include instructions on how to link up and use the WiFi service. Additionally, Golden Lines will provide users with ongoing telephone support.

The wireless Internet project at Ben Gurion International Airport was installed at a cost of NIS 150 million.

Israel Airports Authority director-general Gabi Ophir said that the authority planned to install a similar service at the Eilat airport in the near future.
