"Global Finance" has been given Governor of the Bank of Israel Prof. Stanley Fischer an A Grade, one of six central bankers to get the highest grade in the magazine's annual report card.
"Global Finance" also gave an A to Reserve Bank of Australia Governor Glenn Stevens, Central Bank of Lebanon Governor Riad Salameh, Central Bank of Malaysia Governor Zeti Akhtar Aziz, Central Bank of the Philippines Governor Amando Tetangco, and Central Bank of the Republic of China (Taiwan) Governor Fai-Nan Perng.
Federal Reserve Board Chairman Ben S. Bernanke and Bank of Japan Governor Masaaki Shirakawa were given a C and President of the European Central Bank Jean-Claude Trichet, Governor of the Bank of England Mervyn King, and Bank of Canada Governor Mark Carney were given a B.
"Global Finance" has rated 37 central bank governors since 1994. The rankings are based on the governors' scale of success in controlling inflation, meeting economic growth goals, and managing interest rates.
"During one of the toughest years on record, the world’s central bankers were tested as never before,” said Global Finance publisher Joseph Giarraputo.
