Telmap, Onavo display new wares in Barcelona

Onavo has a version of its Extend application for Android 4.0, while Telmap6 offers improved graphics and other new features.

At the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Israeli start up Onavo is currently exhibiting its Extend application for Android 4.0 ("Ice Cream Sandwich") devices. This is a new version of an application that has been around for along time for the iPhone. The software compresses data that the device consumes from the Internet, saving the user 80% of his or her surfing package when roaming overseas, or to receive five times as much data when using the device in Israel.

Another Israeli company, Telmap, acquired by Intel for $120 million in October, is presenting the new version of its navigation application, Telmap6. This version, which will shortly be made available by mobile carriers around the world, offers a new graphic user interface that includes warnings of speed limits along the route, and breaches of the limit, improvements in calculations of traffic density and estimated times of arrival, as well as the ability to increase or reduce the screen resolution easily while navigating. There are also improvements in the graphic display in displaying routes, turns, and additional layers of information such as green areas, rivers, and industrial zones.
