Kinneret up 23cm after weekend rains

Last week's storm system boosted the Kinneret's water level to 212.02 meters below sea level.

"The water level of the Kinneret was measured this morning. The rain since Thursday added 23 centimeters to the water level, which is now 212.02 meters below sea level, National Kinneret Measurer Eli Kahlon told “IDF Radio" (Galei Zahal) this morning.

“IDF Radio": How much more is needed for the situation to be good?

Kahlon: "The water level still lacks 3.22 meters, which is a lot. It's hard to estimate what will happen later this winter. That depends on the amount of precipitation during the winter."

The heaviest rainfall in the last system fell in the western Galilee. 200 millimeters of rain fell on Kibbutz Ayalon. 80 millimeters of rain fell over the Kinneret basin.

Rainfall has been very heavy since the start of the winter rainy season. 597 millimeters have fallen so far on Mitzpe Harashim, compared with the annual average of 954 millimeters; 400 millimeters have fallen on Haifa, compared with the annual average of 534 millimeters; and 371 millimeters have fallen on Kfar Blum, compared with the annual average of 500 millimeters.
