Traffilog signs $40m Chinese deal

The vehicle fleet management solutions developer has signed a deal with China's biggest bus company Jiao Yun.

Vehicle fleet management solutions developer Traffilog Ltd. has signed a $40 million deal with China's biggest bus company Jiao Yun, which operates a fleet of 9,000 buses and 2,000 rescue vehicles (ambulances and fire trucks) in the Qingdao District.

Traffilog's Traffimech solution detects mechanical problems in vehicles' engines, brakes, clutch, and other systems, reducing damage and the need for spare parts, lowering maintenance costs and improving efficiency. A pilot of 150 vehicles achieved savings of $120 per vehicle per month, which translates into $13 million in annual savings for the whole fleet.

Traffilog also installed its TraffiSafe solution, which warns of dangerous and inefficient driving, helping to reduce accidents and their severity, something that the bus company stresses.

Traffilog also won, through subsidiary Traffilog UK Ltd., two tenders in Ireland this week, worth £2.5 million: one with the Electricity Supply Board, and the other with Northern Ireland Water.
