Start-up Callup Net sells instant messaging system for $2.7m

The customer, Unefon, has a cellular network deployed in 15 cities across Mexico.

Callup Net, a subsidiary of One1, has concluded a deal to supply Mexican mobile operator Unefon's 1.3 million-strong subscriber base with licenses. The deal is valued at $2.7 million.

Callup Net develops and provides telecom operators with messaging solutions that integrate telephony and Internet systems, for services such as unified messaging, voice mail and prepaid systems.

Unefon's cellular network is deployed in 15 cities across Mexico. The company plans to expand its coverage to 20 additional cities by the end of 2003.

Former Cellcom VP Shalom Manova is now COO of Unefon.
