New Orleans Ochsner Medical Center's Dr. James Jenkins successfully used the WIRION System in a catheterization procedure.

The share price of Allium Medical Ltd. (TASE: ALMD) is rising strongly on high turnover on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange today, after the company announced that a first catheterization procedure had been carried out in the US using the WIRION system developed by Gardia Medical Ltd., which Allium Medical bought in January 2012. The procedure was carried out by Dr. James Jenkins, a cardiologist at the Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans. The WIRION system protects against blood clots and emboli produced during catheterization procedures for opening blocked blood vessels.

Allium's share price is currently up 8%.

Allium Medical CEO Asaf Alperovitz said, "The successful first procedure in the US by an opinion leading cardiologist who has published many professional articles, at a leading US medical center, together with focused exposure to the US market at the TCT conference in the US, as reported today, represent important business milestones for us in our plan for linking up with a leading strategic partner after we received FDA approval for selling the product in the US.

"The US is the largest market for Gardia's system, and it is very important to accumulate clinical experience with leading physicians such as Dr. Jenkins, who is highly influential in Gardia's field of activity. We believe that his positive opinion could assist us in our planned moves."

Allium Medical is an Israeli company specializing in minimally invasive medical products.
