The Defense Minister also appointed other former ministers from his party to be chair IAI and IMI.

The office of Minister of Defense Avigdor Liberman said that Uzi Landau, a former government minister, had been appointed chairman of Rafael Advanced Defense Systems Ltd.. Landau's most recent portfolio was Minister of Energy and Water, and he also served as Minister of Tourism, Minister without portfolio in the Prime Minister's Office, and chairman of the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee.

Liberman said that Landau's extensive experience in defense and economic matters would enable him to move Rafael forward and achieve great things.

Landau will replace Brig. Gen. (res.) Yitzhak Gat, who has been chairman for the past three years. As reported exclusively in "Globes" last week, Liberman refused to extend Gat's term for three more years.

With the appointment of Landau as chairman of Rafael , a state-owned defense company, Liberman is completing a round of appointments in government defense companies - all of them former ministers from his party: former Minister of Internal Affairs Yitzhak Aharonovich ( Israel Military Industries Ltd. (IMI)) and former Minister of Agriculture Yair Shamir as chairman of Israel Aerospace Industries Ltd. (IAI) (TASE: ARSP.B1).
