NBC buys Israeli series “The Gordin Cell”

NBC has ordered a US version of the spy drama “Allegiance,” based on the Israeli series “The Gordin Cell.”

NBC has ordered an American version of the spy drama “Allegiance,” based on the Israeli series “The Gordin Cell,” from writer-director George Nolfi, who directed the pilot. Ron Leshem and Daniel Syrkin’s series, produced by Tedy Productions, is distributed globally by Keshet International, with Nolfi, Keshet CEO Avi Nir, and Yes senior VP content Yona Weisenthal (Keshet’s Israeli production partner), serving as producers alongside the series’ creators and Yes’s Giora Yahalom.

In other US news, Ellen DeGeneres’ production company has bought the rights to Artza Productions and Channel 10’s “The Gran Plan,” which is expected to air in Israel today. DeGeneres is expected to produce a pilot for the format. In total, the format has been acquired by 27 countries, including China, Russia, Brazil, and Switzerland. The stars of “The Gran Plan” are three grandmothers who use their rich life experiences to help the younger generation deal with personal crises.
