Comverse wins Norway deal

Comverse's system allows callers to record a voice message that is delivered by SMS even to subscribers without voicemail.

Comverse Technology Inc. (Pink Sheets: CMVT) has won a contract from Norwegian mobile telephone operator NetCom. Comverse will supply its Multimedia Call Completion for voicemail and non-voicemail users with the aim of optimizing network. Comverse did not disclose the size of the deal, but industry sources estimate it at several million dollars.

Comverse notes that its Multimedia Call Completion experience can be enhanced and made more fun with multimedia elements, such as personalized or operator-branded video clips and animated graphics. The system allows a caller to record a voice message that is delivered immediately by MMS or SMS in the event that the person called is unavailable and does not have voicemail. The called party instantly sees the notification and clicks to hear the message.

NetCom is a subsidiary of TeliaSonera (SAX; HEX: TLSN). The company already uses Comverse's InSight platform.
