NDS expands with German deal

NDS supply its digital TV end-to-end solution to Kabel Deutschland.

NDS will supply its digital TV end-to-end solution to Kabel Deutschland GmbH (KDG), Germany’s largest cable network operator and biggest triple play provider. NDS did not disclose the size of the deal.

NDS COO Rafi Kasten said, "We believe strongly in the German market. We've focused on it in the past couple of years, and you can't argue with success. We'll provide KDG with conditional access, security, set-top box and PVR content solutions, as well as providing full integration."

NDS beat Swiss rival Kudelski Group SA (SWX: KUD) subsidiary Nagravision to win the deal. Nagravision was KDG's previous vendor.

NDS parent company parent company News Corporation (NYSE: NWS; ASX: NCP) and private equity firm Permira Advisors LLC took the company private last year after a successful offer to purchase for $3.7 billion.
