ECI to upgrade Deutsche Telekom network

The German company's next generation network will be entirely Internet protocol- based.

The deal reported by ECI Telecom yesterday shows how long term connections with a customer can pay off handsomely. The company announced that will participate in the replacement of Deutsche Telekom's telephony network. Deutsche Telekom is Europe's largest telecommunications company. ECI said that the contract was worth tens of millions of euros; as far as is known the amount is some $100 million.

The German company's next generation network will be entirely Internet protocol- based. Its current network will be upgraded, and the project will combine several platforms that serve it today. The project is very important for ECI, because it demonstrates that the company can compete with giant companies over time and win key projects.
