Sunday Energy wins additional solar energy deal in Negev

The photovoltaic array will be built at an abandoned quarry at Moshav Yad Natan.

Solar energy systems integrator Sunday Energy Ltd. has won another deal to build a five-megawatt photovoltaic array, this time with Moshav Yad Natan in the Negev. Sunday will build the array on a 130-dunam (42.5-acre) site in an abandoned quarry at an estimated cost of NIS 100 million.

In order to deal with zoning problems of the site, Sunday Energy plans to build the array on damaged land. The Israel Land Administration (ILA) defined "damaged land" as land whose use harmed its terrain, features, or soil. Sunday will build the array on engineering facilities and water reservoirs, with the goal of minimizing use of potentially arable land.

Earlier this week, Sunday Energy announced that it signed an agreement to build a similar five-megawatt photovoltaic array at Kibbutz Zeelim in the Negev, at a cost of NIS 100 million.
